Lucy & Matt - The Dreamiest, Rainy-Day Farm Wedding at Home - Lancashire Wedding Photography

I know we’re getting bored with this rain now - especially in contrast to last year and the glorious locked-down lazy days we had. But to be honest - I’ll take spending the day dodging showers and trudging through muddy farm fields capturing the joyous freedom of these (nearly) post-pandemic wedding days over cooped-up surreal sunshine. BECAUSE WEDDINGS ARE BACK BABY! And after easing in with some beautiful April half-days and micro-weddings, yesterday I had the grand pleasure of shooting my first full-day wedding since December and not even the elements could contain the pure, cathartic joy of celebration amongst family and dear friends.

Lucy & Matt have been together for what their friends will describe as forever. If you caught hteir pre-wedding session on my social media, you’ll have seen the easy, relaxed chemistry they share - a gentle camaraderie, an equal balance and a clear, electric adoration for each other that jumps out of every photo. I should have realised that their pre-wedding shoot set me up for an even greater concentration of that connection on their wedding day. And every style choice they made, every song and every detail was a gorgeous representation of this!

The happy couple live in a centuries-old farmhouse on Lucy’s family’s working farm, in the heart of Lancashire. When I pulled in the drive, I was greeted by the grinning bridemaids Alice & Rosie already in full hair and makeup but sensibly rocking mud-splattered wellies, unfazed by the weather - a true indication of just how easy-going and relaxed the day would be! I instantly fell in love with this tight-knit crew and was just so elated to be back in the thick of the pre-wedding bustle that the morning FLEW by and before we knew it, we were buttoning the STUNNING Lucy into her incredible caped Stephanie Allin gown and whizzing off to the church just down the road. After a beautiful traditional COE ceremony (only slightly overshadowed by sass-queen flower girls Ivy & Annie), Lucy & her beloved Matt emerged into the drizzle under a shower of cheers and confetti by their 30 favourite humans.

The day stretched on from there and the happy couple were total troupers traipsing across the muddy fields and indulging me for some truly special portraits. But mostly I was happy to shoot from afar, capturing the bursts of laughter from the groom’s band, the whoops and tequila shots with the bridesmaids and the watchful pride of the happy couple’s family. What an absolutely magical day we had, here’s a little sneak peek of what we got up to…
