Jess & Rory - A Joyous Family Wedding at King Street Townhouse - Manchester Wedding Photographer

If you’re planning a wedding at King Street Townhouse in Manchester City Centre, you’ll find tons of inspo from this wedding! Jess and Rory got married at King Street Townhouse, which is an iconic hotel in Manchester City Centre with jawdropping views of the city. It was one of the most fun weddings I’ve shot and the sun even made an appearance!

The ceremony was a legal ceremony in on the first floor mezzanine. During the ceremony they had several beautiful readings from friends and family. It was a real tear-jerker and rounded off with a big cheer as the happy couple made their eway up the aisle.

They decorated the venue with simple seasonal greenery from Manchester staples Northern Flower, which I loved. The reception was on the 6th floor terrace at King Street Townhouse – I love this venue because you can totally personalise it, whilst it’s a beautiful old building, the decor is modern and really scrubs up gorgeously. Weddings at King Street Townhouse are amazing, because the staff is just incredible & you have the whole city as a backdrop (especially is you can sneak up to the roof!).

King Street Townhouse is perfect for couples who want a big party, and is one of the loveliest places to get married in Manchester City Centre. The venue offers onsite bedrooms so guests don’t have to leave early – and there so many incredible backdrops that are perfect for photos.

The couple had a live singer in the afternoon, and the rest of epic wedding band, New Power Soul Club kicked off the dancing in the evening. Lauren and her crew of musicians are so talented and really pack the dance floor with their awesome sets. It's always such a treat when we get to hang out! For dinner they had proper wedding grub, and the first dance was to Etta James' arrangement of I Got You Babe. Rory's family made the journey over from Northern Ireland and it really was a PROPER knees-up. Everyone was is such high spirits so the atmosphere was incredible.

Jess wore a beautifully customised ivory crepe de chine gown by Charlie Brear from The White Closet and Rory wore a perfectly tailored Hugo Boss suit sans tie and they looked really amazing. I loved that both of their outfits were really considered and invested in - so often the suit is more of a perfunctory afterthought but Rory really wanted to use his wedding as an opportunity to match his bride and dress to the nines. It really did pay off, they looked amazing together.

The couple got in touch with me last year, and their enquiry made me laugh. They said they didn’t care about anything except having an epic party, and I loved that they were so relaxed. From the first call, we got on brilliantly but our connection was cemented when, after a touch too much wine the night before, they overslept and nearly missed their pre-wedding shoot! We ended up having a - slightly hungover- wander and catch-up around Castlefield but seriously didn't stop laughing the whole time!

Jess & Rory have been together since university and their chemistry and easygoing comfort with each other makes them a dream couple to photograph - nothing is forced, you can really see how they truly are the best of friends. And that warmth and joy emanating from them stretches out to include their AMAZING friends and family. I really had the BEST time capturing their wedding day and cannot thank them enough for having me along.

Here's a little sneak peek of what we got up to!
