Amy & Xander - A Grand & Goofy April Wedding at Hensol Castle (with surprise performances!) - Wales Wedding Photography

I love you, I want you, it’s burning hell without you. I don’t want to see anybody or talk to anybody, I’m lost without you. I love your body & your soul & your eyes & your hair & your voice & the way you walk & talk. And that’s all I can see now: you moving, in a light...
— Dylan Thomas to his Wife, Caitlin

The majestic Hensol Castle near Cardiff recently played host to a celebration of love that was not only a merging of families but also a beautiful blend of Welsh and Portuguese cultures. Amy and Xander's wedding day was a true testament to the power of love and the joy of cultural fusion, captured through the lens of photography. Run to perfection by the dynamite Lily & her mega staff, it really went off without a hitch.

As the sun cast its golden glow on the historic castle grounds, guests were treated to a delightful display of Welsh and Portuguese delicacies, with towers of pastel de natas and Welsh cakes adorning the tables. The blending of flavours mirrored the union of two families, each bringing their own traditions and heritage to the joyous occasion.

Despite the blustery weather, the sun made a stunning appearance, providing the perfect backdrop for intimate portraits of the happy couple. Against the backdrop of Hensol Castle's timeless beauty, Amy and Xander's love shone brighter than ever. Amy was a real-life princess in her STUNNING off-shoulder gown and gorgeous tawny hair crafted into perfect Hollywood waves.

However, the highlight of the celebration came in the form of a surprise performance by the Monmouth Men's Voices Choir. With a harmonious blend of Welsh tradition and contemporary classics, the choir serenaded the newlyweds and their guests with a five-song set that touched the hearts of all present. The moment was made even more special by Amy’s Dad Jonty joining in (he’s a member of the choir!).

As the festivities came to a close and the sun dipped below the horizon, one thing was abundantly clear: Amy and Xander's wedding day was not just a celebration of their love, but a beautiful tribute to the richness of their families and true melding of all of their favourite humans in one place to celebrate.

I was truly honoured to have been asked to make the journey from Manchester down to Cardiff - I even dragged my tiny family with me for a little road trip through the Brecon Beacons! I had the BEST time getting to know this wonderful bunch, here’s a sneak peek of what we got up to…
