Amie & Elise - A Romantic & Lively Manchester Wedding at the Portico Library - Manchester Wedding Photographer

She says I smell like safety and home
I named both of her eyes forever and please-don’t-go
I could be a morning sunrise all the time, all the time, yeah
This could be good, this could be good
I can’t change, even if I tried
Even if I wanted to
And I can’t change, even if I tried
Even if I wanted to
My love, my love, my love, my love
She keeps me warm
— Mary Lambert

Something that struck me in the flurry of constant movement and activity that was today’s beautiful wedding was the most simplistic: how love genuinely makes us the very best versions of ourselves. The care we give the people in our lives, the kindness, the grace, the patience…it all elevates us. And reminding ourselves to act within love, to move through love, is how we maintain and nurture our humanity. I get so sad when I absorb the horrors of this world, dismayed at the actions of people who genuinely seem to forget how to move through love.

Amie & Elise’s SPECTACULAR 3-venue (yes 3!) Manchester wedding day was such a beautiful cleebration of, not just their romantic love story, but the overwhelming emotional love that their families bring to their life together. I’m a hopeless romantic anyway but I was immediately swept into the JOY of this family, I was made to feel like I was even a part of it if only for the day and I will carry that with me into every wedding I shoot. Being their storyteller today has been such a beautiful honur and gift.

We started early doors at the happy couple’s home where Elise was getting ready with her bridemaids. The brides opted to keep their outfits a secret so they got ready apart. The grand reveal during the ceremony certainly didn’t disappoint with Elise in her ivory pinstriped suit & Amie going full glam in lace. From Elise I headed over to Amie and her lively crew of sisters - I genuinely didn’t stop laughing all day, these women are just amazing and hilarious and their energy is incredibly infectious, it could power the whole of the city.

Amie & Elise opted for a more intimate wedding ceremony, choosing the iconic Portico Library in Manchester City Centre for the proceedings. Michelle, Ruth & Ellie at the library run an incredibly tight ship and I LOVED exploring this stunning space for photos during the drinks reception. The brides exited to a shower of confetti and we all headed over to the new Piccolinos Grande Caffe - stopping along the way for some epic city centre portraits - for a private dining room feast and speeches.

As day turned to night, we made our way over to the final venue location and PARTY TIME. I snuck the happy couple off into cathedral gardens for some final twilight snaps, their additional 80+ evening guests arriving for a full night of dancing.

I have ADORED getting to know this extraordinary couple over the past year and their wedding was well worth the wait. It was the perfect balance of good humans, good food and, above all, so much love. Here’s a sneak peek of what we got up to…
