Mark & Vicky: An Emotional, Elegant, Nunsmere Hall Wedding

I normally Skype with my couples before booking. There are a few reasons for this - we're all SO busy and trying to arrange to meet in person can be complicated. Also, as the mum of a 3-year-old who only attends half day nursery sessions, chances are I'll have to bring her along and whilst she's the light of my damn life, she can prove quite distracting. Finally, you can wear pyjamas. No judgement!

But when Vicky first got in touch with me via the lovely gals at Diddibox Flowers and suggested meeting for a mid-week coffee in Sale whilst her kids and mine were at school, it was a nice change of pace and a good way to get to learn all about her plans. We ended up hanging out for a good 2 hours getting to know each other! I felt like I'd known this wonderful, sweet woman for years and was so excited hearing about her wedding plans at the iconic Nunsmere Hall. Vicky and Mark have been together for 18 years (!!!!) and after 2 kids and a very full life together, they were super stoked to celebrate with a big fat family-filled fairytale wedding. It was fun and silly and emotional and myself, my assistant Jenn and videographer Amy had an absolute ball.

Vicky and Mark got married in May at the grand Nunsmere Hall, which is a stunning country house in Cheshire. It was the most beautiful wedding and the sun shone all day long!

Getting ready

Vicky got ready in the bridal suite with her children Ebony & Austin close by and a dream team of family and friends in charge of the beautifying process, and the atmosphere was already emotional. After so long together, Vicky was just so excited to marry the love of her life and we had to keep touching up that mascara through the happy tears. She then walked the short distance to get to the ceremony. Arriving from under a leafy green arbor to the loving gaze of Mark, Vicky took a moment to collect herself. There wasn't a dry eye around. Mark got ready also at Nunsmere and Jenn was on hand to capture the arrival of guests and those last minute nervous jitters.

The vows

The ceremony was a beautiful service on the grounds of the venue. With the impressive gardens on Nunsmere Hall as a backdrop, accented by Diddibox's elegant blooms, it was an amazing dream of a spring wedding. During the ceremony Mark and Vicky headed back inside the venue to legalise their vows and it was such a lovely intimate moment shared just by their witnesses. It was so emotional and a real tear-jerker.

The afternoon

The reception was in a marquee at the venue. They chose Nunsmere Hall because it’s where they always wanted to have their wedding and they just fell in love with it. It was a family-focused wedding, which really made it feel so personal. I love shooting Nunsmere Hall weddings because the grounds are absolutely amazing. Vicky and Mark had also booked the AWESOME Tall Toastmaster himself, Stefan, who kept the energy light and fun but also was such a fabulous help on the day.

They had a live singer in the afternoon, and a DJ with a saxophonist in the evening. We had a ball capturing the party atmostphere. They decorated the venue with so much greenery including a floral chandelier hung from the ceiling of the marquee and tealights, because it worked so well with the time of year.

The most memorable part of the day was the ceremony, because it was so romantic and personal. I loved how the whole day was such a celebration of this wonderful couple and their life together.

The couple

Vicky wore an elegant off-the-shouler Pronovias gown from Knutsford Wedding Gallery and Mark wore a three piece suit from L&J Formal Hire and they looked perfect. Vicky’s dress fit her so perfectly, it was so impeccably tailored and Mark’s suit was super dapper.

The couple met on a night out and have been together for 18 years. They got in touch with me in September last year and their enquiry was so sweetly worded. They said they just wanted to be married, and I loved that they were so relaxed.

Vicky and Mark’s wedding was everything I love about weddings and just the happiest occasion. Here’s their Nunsmere Hall wedding!
