Stockport Town Hall Wedding Photography

Oh, that staircase.

Stockport Town Hall has to be one of the most spectacular places to get married in Greater Manchester. With its magnificent Italian marble staircase, grand Renaissance architecture and beautiful historic interiors, it's a venue that manages to feel wonderfully romantic without being remotely stuffy.

Known locally as the Wedding Cake because of its striking white exterior and tiered clock tower, this Grade II* listed building is a gorgeous setting for everything from intimate civil ceremonies to grand wedding celebrations.

I've been lucky enough to photograph quite a few weddings at Stockport Town Hall over the years, and I never tire of it. The architecture is extraordinary, of course, but it's the contrast between all that grandeur and the wonderfully human moments happening within it that I love most.

Big emotions, beautiful surroundings and an awful lot of love. What more could you want?

Wedding photography at Stockport Town Hall

One of the loveliest things about Stockport Town Hall is its versatility. You can exchange vows beneath the beautiful marble staircase, celebrate in one of its ornate ceremony rooms or make use of the grand Ballroom for something altogether bigger.

And if you're planning a smaller wedding, it's equally special.

I've photographed intimate Stockport Town Hall weddings with just a handful of guests, joyful family celebrations and wonderfully unconventional days that continued in pubs, restaurants and little neighbourhood venues across Stockport.

Melody and David exchanged vows surrounded by around forty of their favourite people before heading to Strines Pond in Marple, where David had proposed, for their portraits. Abbie and Stephen celebrated with their two little girls, beautiful autumn light and an enormous shower of pink confetti. And Persephone and Josh threw the traditional wedding rulebook straight out of the window with a fabulous trouser suit, a kilt and a wonderfully personal ceremony.

Every wedding completely different. Every single one full of character.

For portraits, the marble staircase is an obvious favourite, but there are beautiful opportunities throughout the building. I love making the most of the architecture without turning your wedding into an extended photoshoot.

We'll take a little time to create some gorgeous, relaxed photographs, and then I'll send you straight back to your guests, your champagne and all the celebrations.

Because the real magic is in everything happening around you.
