Jo & Scott - An Eclectic and Joyous Manchester wedding at Whitworth Hall & Leaf on Portland Street- Manchester Wedding Photography

Happy 2020!!! After a VERY busy December filled to the brim with some EPIC Manchester, Yorkshire and Lancashire weddings, I took the month of January to re-set - I spent some seriously quality time with my family celebrating our Hadley Pearl’s 5th birthday and my sister-inlaw’s 30th, I caught up on editing those December weddings and delivering them to awaiting couples, I thought about marketing and planning for the year ahead - I drank more water and exercised and focused on self-care and shot a STUNNING Deaf Institute wedding shoot with my industry pals so I can be at the top of my game for what is sure to be an AMAZING year of weddings. Yesterday was my first day back shooting…and WHAT a wedding to kick things off!!!

I was first introduced to the WONDERFUL and hilarious Jo & Scott via mutual friends (and fellow wedding photographers!) Zoe & Tom of About Today Photography. What was meant to be a very civilised meeting to discuss their upcoming wedding plans at a local wine bar wherein I would try to dazzle them into booking my services (terribly, I’m the WORST at selling my business!) quickly devolved into drinking a bottle of Pinot Grigio together on a Tuesday evening after work. We didn’t stop laughing and I was SO in love with this gorgeous pair and their easy, comfortable chemistry and relaxed attitude to their big day.

Needless to say, I landed the gig and thus tagged along yesterday afternoon to capture what was a beautiful, joyous, friend and family-filled celebration at the Waterhouse-designed Council Chambers (part of the University of Manchester) and onward to a big fat soiree at the quirky/cool Leaf on Portland Street. We started the morning with bridal prep at the nearby Novotel and Jo’s bridal squad kept the tone light and easy - there wasn’t a nerve in sight! The girls looked amazing in their dove grey Chi Chi London bridesmaid dresses and Jo STUNNED in her form-fitting Enzoani gown from Cheadle Bride (customised by bridesmaid Emily’s mum who owns Paris Bridal in Widnes!). From the hotel we headed over to Whitworth Hall and what followed was an emotional, sweet ceremony in an iconic Manchester space - the blustery February weather kept us indoors for portraits but never mind because we took advantage of Whitworth Hall’s big stained glass windows and twisty staircases.

Following the ceremony and a drinks reception at Christie’s bistro (itself a former science library!), the whole wedding made it’s way up to Leaf on Portland street (from the geniuses behind Oh Me Oh My in Liverpool) and we eased into an evening of feasting and speeches and dancing to some killer tunes. Tom and his team at Leaf run an impeccable ship and I LOVED my first wedding there - also OMG the FOOD! When I left, the dancing was getting well underway I have no doubt that the party continued into the wee hours - I’m sure there are some sore heads and dancing feet today!

Thank you so so much to Jo & Scott for having me along to capture their AMAZING wedding day, I truly had the very best time! Here’s a bit of what we got up to…
