Catherine & Iain - A Scottish Wedding Blessing at Colshaw Hall with Bonus Ceilidh! - Colshaw Hall Wedding Photography

I will build my love a bower
By yon cool crystal fountain
And round it I will pile
All the wild flowers o’ the mountain
Will ye go
Lassie
Go?
I will range through the wilds
And the deep glen sae dreamy
And return wi’ their spoils
Tae the bower o’ my dearie
Will ye go
Lassie
Go?

Catherine and Iain celebrated their marriage at Colshaw Hall, which is an old country house in the heart of Cheshire with stunning grounds. Colshaw Hall is one of my very favourite places to work despite the fact that EVERY wedding I’ve shot there has had torrential rain that has stopped me from truly exploring it’s extensive STUNNING gardens. Despite a few light showers in the morning, it was such a happy day and even the inevitable rain didn’t dampen the day! After those initial drops in the morning, the skies cleared and we were able to have a proper explore, woohoo!

Having tied the knot officially last year in front of just 30 close friends and family, yesterday’s ceremony was a simple blessing by Father David in Colshaw's purpose built ceremony room. During the ceremony they had several beautiful readings from friends and family. Catherine’s very talented brothers also performed on the guitar and piano, to the delight to all in attendance. It was such a personal service.

Colshaw Hall is perfect for couples who want a big party or a more intimate celebration, and is one of the loveliest places to get married in Cheshire. The venue offers onsite bedrooms so guests don’t have to leave early, exceptional service and food by in-house caterers Barretts – and there are so many beautiful spots that are perfect for photos.

The couple had drinks and canapes in the afternoon, and live music in the evening. As Catherine and Iain were married already during peak lockdown restrictions, the couple were determined to let the big day stretch out ahead of them with an extra-long drinks recdeption so they could properly catch up with the many guests they hadn't seen for far too long. For dinner they had a spring lamb feast by Barretts, and the first dance was skipped in favour of a rousing ceilidh dance - the dancefloor was PACKED! This was followed by an energetic set by the AWESOME husband and wife duo Bleeker. The dance floor was hopping by the time I left just before 9pm!

Catherine wore a traditional white gown (the same as last year!) and Iain wore a classic kilt and they looked really perfect. The Scottish contigent of the family made a strong showing and even their labrador Brodie wore a pop of tartan for the occasion - and stole the show during the confetti toss!

I had the most wonderful time capturing the new Mr. & Mrs. McMichael’s celebrations, here’s a sneak peek of what we got up to…
