Abbie & Robert - An Intimate, Elegant Wedding at Home - Cheshire Wedding Photography

And theres always my infinite love—You are a sweet person—the sweetest and dearest of all and I love you as I love my vanished youth— which is as much as a human heart can hold— filled with copper clouds like the after-math of cannon-fire, pre-war, civil-war clouds and I feel all empty and bored and very much in love with you, my dear one, my own. I wish you were here so we could stretch our legs down beside one another and feel all warm and hidden in the bed, like seeds beaten into the earth. Why is there happiness and comfort and excitement where you are and no where else in the world, and why is there a sleepy tremulo in the air when you are near that’s promising and living like a vibrating fecundity?
— Zelda Fitzgerald

I never know who is reading these blogs when I waffle on - I’d imagine that most who stumble across them skip ahead to the pretty pictures - and rightly so! I know I can count on my mother and my husband as dutiful subscribers to the ramblings in my brain as I try to wax lyrical about the joy this wild job brings me. I’m most certainly a visual storyteller rather than verbal but all I’m trying to do is provide context to the imagery. I wish so much for my photos transport you to the magic of a wedding day and you can imagine yourself outside looking in but really the paragraphs that precede them are merely a preamble to the main event - the feast awaits your eyes but in the meantime I must impart some meagre wisdom I’ve hastily acquired thorughout the process!

But then there’s the odd person who wanders into this space and READS the words and listens and manages to grasp tightly to a rare cohesive thought amidst my hodgepodge of abstract fancy flight! And bless you for it my dear bride Abbie who booked me nearly two years ago now - whose wedding day was cancelled and postponed and changed and morphed into something else entirely from what it was originally meant to be last June! Lovely Abbie with whom I’ve spent the past months building a rapport and relationship and camaraderie and who found one of my posts from last year written in my desperation for weddings to return when I championed the micro-wedding with all my heart. And rather than despair that her own plans had changed so much, Abbie and lovely fiance Rob took my advice (!!!) that I had thought I was maybe just writing into the ether (!!!) and planned the most delicious, intimate, emotional and beautiful at-home wedding in the heart of Cheshire with a sunset over Jodrell Bank that stopped me in my tracks.

This beautiful, warm couple has so so much love in their lives and it was such a treat to spend an afternoon in their orbit. From the moment I walked into Abbie’s family home and was greeted by a grinning bustle of activity to the the nervy moments pre-ceremony to finally a surprise golden-hour portrait shoot and all the small sparks of magic in-between, Abbie & Rob concocted a wedding that paid tribute to their previous plans, looked ahead to the big fat soiree next year and still, though not what was originally expected, became the PERFECT wedding day of their dreams.

Thank you thank you thank you to the new Mr. & Mrs. Jones for all their love and support (and emergency trousers!) on the day, I truly had the very best time. Thank you Abbie for making sense of my musings and remembering that what remains is a mrriage - there’s nothing better than that. Here’s a little sneak peek of the fun that was had…
