Oh, what a day.
Yesterday I was back at one of my very favourite Manchester wedding venues, HOME on First Street, for Nadia and Paul’s absolutely glorious wedding — and Manchester, naturally, decided to provide us with ALL of the weather. Sunshine! Rain! Wind! More sunshine! Honestly, thank you for keeping us on our toes.
Thankfully Nadia and Paul were completely unfazed by any of it. They are two of the warmest, loveliest humans and by the time their wedding rolled around I felt like I really knew them, which is always such a special place to arrive at on a wedding morning.
Nadia is a doctor, collector of hobbies (rollerskating! Padel! What next?!) and one of those people who radiates warmth. She’s empathetic, funny and so very loved — something that was obvious from the enormous, wonderful family surrounding her yesterday. Many had travelled all the way from Trinidad and Tobago to be there, which made the whole celebration feel even more special.
She met Paul during Covid and he is every bit her match. Kind, thoughtful, gentle and very funny, his speech was one of my favourite moments of the day. He spoke beautifully about men embracing warmth, kindness and empathy rather than shying away from them, and honestly, YES PAUL. More of this please.
There was just so much love in that room.
And then there was the PARTY.
After Nadia and Paul’s first dance, the dancefloor filled almost immediately and basically stayed that way. The DJ moved effortlessly between hip hop favourites and Caribbean bangers, Trinidad and Tobago flags appeared from somewhere and were enthusiastically waved around the dancefloor, and Nadia’s hens surprised everyone with a fully choreographed fan dance which was both completely brilliant and absolutely hilarious.
I genuinely did not want to leave.
HOME is such a brilliant venue for a Manchester city centre wedding — creative, relaxed, modern and right in the middle of everything. I’m incredibly proud to be one of their recommended wedding photographers and I always love working alongside Steph, Jo and the whole HOME team. They look after everyone so beautifully and every wedding there somehow manages to feel completely different.
Nadia and Paul, I loved this one SO much. Thank you for trusting me with it, for wandering around Manchester with me between rain showers, and for making me feel so completely welcomed by your wonderful families.
