Joe & Lou - Love in the Time of COVID19 - An Intimate Sale Town Hall Wedding

When she rocked up the Waterside today, her wheelchair being pushed by the love of her life in a KILLER vintage-style dress and the most glorious, beautiful smile on her face carrying a bouquet of silk summer blooms by her cousin Helen of Taylor Made Blooms, any concerns or worries I had faded

Deco Decadence - A Vintage-styled Stockport Plaza Wedding Shoot

I’m so inspired by the many other people who work in the wedding industry in their various fields and will always do everything I can to find new ways to capture their genius designs. My very favourite way of doing this is to work on editorial wedding shoots. It’s been a good 18 months since I’ve had the chance to work on one but to say that I chose the right project would be the understatement of the year.

Kate McCarthy Photography Weddings 2017 Year in Review

WHAT A YEAR.  Honestly, what an unbelievable way to spend 12 months: hanging out with wonderfully warm and fun couples in beautiful environments and capturing some of their most precious memories.  I always knew that when I began this journey into wedding photography, I was heading towards something special but 2017 and the huge outpouring of support I've received from so many amazing former strangers has been completely overwhelming.

Zoe & Chris: A Belle Epoque Vintage Wedding

Zoe is the brains and baking behind the fabulous mobile Vintage Afternoon Tea company and hooked me with her infectious laugh and a lemon drizzle cake that I still dream about.  She had seen my work on a previous wedding and we started talking more about her big day: an old-fashioned knees up at the beautiful Belle Epoque hotel in the heart of Knutsford.

Are You Afraid of the Dark?: A Belle Epoque Wedding Workshop with Jonny Draper Photography Training

As a wedding photographer, I have a very specific set of fears that are beyond my control: that the vicar/registrar/celebrant has very specific rules for me, that the weather won't cooperate and it will be impossible to even get the cute umbrella shots and that the ceremony room will be SO. DARK. and tricky to subtly light whilst staying unobtrusive (see above vicar fears).  And the wedding industry is changing so much (in a good way!) in that weddings are now taking place year-round, not just in the super bright summer months, in unbeliavable locations and to stay relevant and current it's my job to continue expanding the tools in my toolbelt.
