Laura & Matt - Happily Ever After at Larkspur Lodge - Cheshire Wedding Photography

You make me feel like I’ve swallowed starlight. Like I’m glowing from the inside out and the night sky lives in my bones.
— Beau Taplin

Some wedding days just feel good from the very start, and Laura & Matt’s beautiful celebration at Larkspur Lodge was exactly that. Warm, joyful, full of brilliant people and the kind of love that quietly fills every corner of a room. As someone lucky enough to photograph so many Cheshire weddings, this was one of those days I’ll be smiling about for a long time.

When I arrived, dark clouds were looming overhead and doing their very best dramatic impression. Everyone kept half an eye on the sky, but somehow the weather gods were feeling generous because the rain stayed away all day. Not only did we stay dry, but later on we even snuck away for the dreamiest sunset portraits. A proper plot twist, and one I was very happy about.

Laura & Matt had over 100 of their favourite people there to celebrate with them, and the atmosphere all day was full of laughter, hugs, happy tears and that lovely low-level buzz that comes when everyone is genuinely thrilled to be there. Big weddings can sometimes feel hectic, but this one felt beautifully connected – a huge room full of people who adore them.

There was also a lovely personal thread running through the day for me. Their bridesmaid Amy is a mutual friend who I’ve known for well over 15 years now – she’s a close friend of my sister-in-law – and I actually photographed Amy’s wedding seven years ago. Laura was a bridesmaid then too, which was the first time we met. I always love how weddings weave people together over time. It felt very special to be there again, years later, capturing another chapter.

And then there was Lyla. Laura & Matt’s gorgeous nearly-three-year-old daughter absolutely stole hearts all day long. She walked down the aisle like a tiny professional and was an absolute superstar from start to finish. Cute, charming, hilarious – basically everything you’d hope for from a little VIP guest.

Larkspur Lodge was the perfect backdrop for it all. Stylish, relaxed and made for celebrations exactly like this one. It’s easy to see why it’s such a popular choice for Cheshire weddings. There was space to breathe, space to party, and so many lovely spots for photographs.

I also got to work alongside my pal James Wray on videography, which always makes a good day even better. Working with brilliant suppliers who you genuinely enjoy being around is such a gift, and we had a great laugh while capturing all the magic.

Honestly, I loved every minute of Laura & Matt’s wedding. It was heartfelt, fun, emotional and gloriously full of life – the kind of day that reminds me exactly why I adore this job.

Here’s their sneak peek.
